“To collect photographs is to collect the world.” Susan Sontag.
I collect photographs. Photographs that are either lost, forgotten, or thrown away, depicting nameless people in unknown places. Some of these photos were found on the street, some in a photo booth, some were found amongst rubbish, some were inherited and depict distant relatives to whom I have no knowledge or connection. Whilst each photograph may hint at a story, important personal details are withheld. I like to create my own narrative for each photograph I find, interpreting a miniature reality for the unnamed. My collection now contains over 250 photographs since it first began in 2007.
